Bills and Stevie Johnson on the verge of a 5 year contract extension

Adam Schefter reported on his Twitter page earlier tonight that the Bills and WR Stevie Johnson are on the verge of a new deal that will keep Johnson in Buffalo for at least the next 5 years.  Schefter reports that per a source the Bills and Johnson’s representation worked aggressively on Sunday to strike a deal before the Bills would have to place the franchise tag on Johnson before the 4:00 PM EST deadline for designated franchise players.  The deal is expected to be completed in the next 24 hours.  I’ll have more tomorrow on the details of the contract and what this means for the Bills long term.
